ABOUT CASE LAW DATABASE

The Case Law area, useful for justice practitioners, politicians and policymakers, provides a comprehensive compilation of leading case law on discrimination on grounds of racial and ethnic origin and on grounds of sexual orientation in the EU Member States.

The data is collected by our Fralex partners and it will include a formal reference to the decisions, judgments and opinions, an abstract in English, and if available a link to the full text document.

Navigation can be performed based on various classification schemes, such as ground or form of discrimination, country, topic, area and deciding body. Additionally it can be carried out through a full text search, advanced or thesaurus search.

In 2010 the focus of the case law data collection will be shift to  European Union Charter of Fundamental Rights and the database will contain European Court of Justice and National Supreme Court Decisions with specific reference to the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.

The main objective is to develop an instrument to see how the Charter itself does have an impact in the development of human rights in the European Union. It will show the different ways through which national Supreme Court case law apply, interpret or reference the EU’s Fundamental Rights Charter.
